The Uists have outstanding opportunities for birdwatchers. Sea birds, waders corncrakes and birds of prey can all be seen. Visits to Balranald RSPB and Loch Druidibeg National Nature Reserve are highly recommended.

Uist supports a large population of otters that can regularly be observed as can seals that are often seen swimming close to the shore or basking on the rocks.
